Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 20, 2026  ·  Last updated: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Nova Guide ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Nova Guide iPhone app (the "App"). We built Nova Guide to help students organize their academic work, and we've tried to keep our data practices as minimal and transparent as possible.

The short version: Nova Guide does not run its own servers or collect your personal data in the background. If you choose to sign in with Google, the App reads your Google profile and your Google Calendar events on your device to show you your schedule. We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and you can disconnect at any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you choose to provide

Nova Guide works without an account. If you choose to use the optional Google Sign-In feature on the Schedule tab, Google shares limited profile information with the App — typically your name, email address, and profile picture — so the App can show you as signed in.

Google Calendar data

If you connect your Google account, the App requests read-only access to your primary Google Calendar. It uses this to display your upcoming events alongside your study plan. This calendar data is fetched directly from Google to your device and shown to you within the App. We do not operate a backend server, and we do not copy, store, or transmit your calendar data to us or to any third party.

Information stored on your device

The App includes built-in sample content and keeps your in-app state on your device. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Information we do not collect

Apple may provide us with limited, aggregated App Store statistics (for example, download counts and crash reports) in accordance with Apple's privacy policies. This information is not tied to your identity by us.

2. How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

3. Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Nova Guide's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we only use Google user data (including Google Calendar data) to provide and improve the in-app features you request, we do not transfer it except as necessary to provide those features or as required by law, we do not use it for advertising, and no humans read this data except where required for security, to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent.

4. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. Because the App has no backend, we do not share your data with third parties for our own purposes. Your calendar data flows only between Google and your device. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or valid legal process.

5. Data retention and deletion

We do not retain your Google profile or calendar data on our systems, because we do not have systems that store it. Your Google authorization and any cached data remain on your device. You can remove them at any time by:

6. Security

Because your data stays on your device and with Google, its security depends primarily on your device's protections (such as your passcode and Google account security) and on Google's own safeguards. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we design the App to request the minimum access it needs.

7. Children's and teens' privacy

Nova Guide is intended for students, including teenagers. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are between 13 and 18 (or the age of majority where you live), please use the App with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or school where appropriate, and only connect a Google account you are permitted to use. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at support@nova-guide.com and we will take appropriate steps. [REVIEW — confirm minimum-age handling with counsel; COPPA and, for EU/UK users, GDPR/UK-GDPR age rules may apply.]

8. Your choices and rights

You control whether to connect a Google account, and you can disconnect at any time as described in Section 5. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information (such as rights to access or delete it). To make a request or ask a question, contact us at support@nova-guide.com.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
