Do I need an account to use Nova Guide?
No. Nova Guide works without an account. Connecting Google is optional — you can bring in Google Classroom assignments, Google Calendar events, or both, or type in your own assignments and commitments.
What does connecting Google Classroom do?
It brings your assignments and due dates into the app, labeled by class, and notices when you've turned something in. Access is read-only — the app never changes or submits anything in Classroom. Your data goes straight from Google to your device — see our Privacy Policy for details.
What does connecting Google Calendar do?
It shows your classes and other events alongside your study plan, so study time is planned around them. The app reads events from all of your calendars (including shared ones), read-only, and never creates or changes events. You can also use your iPhone's own Calendar instead of Google. Your calendar data stays between Google and your device — see our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I disconnect my Google account?
In the app, open Settings and disconnect Google Classroom or Google Calendar (each one separately); this also removes that imported data from your iPhone. You can also remove the app's access from your Google Account permissions page, or delete the app to remove all of its data.
Can I add my own to-dos, not just schoolwork?
Yes. The Tasks tab lets you jot down personal to-dos and reminders — errands, chores, anything you don't want to forget — and keep them alongside your assignments. Tasks stay on your device and work without any account.
What are study sessions and the Lock Screen timer?
When you're ready to work, you can start a study session for an assignment. Nova Guide shows a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island with the step you're on, so you can check things off without unlocking your phone. You can turn Live Activities off in the app's Settings.
Does Nova Guide use AI? Where does my data go?
Nova Guide builds your plan with a private, on-device planner — no data leaves your phone to create it. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, and only if you leave the option on, it can also use Apple's on-device model to help word suggested steps and study tips. Nothing is ever sent to us or to an outside AI service. See our Privacy Policy.
Is Nova Guide a medical or therapy app?
No. Nova Guide is an organizational and educational tool to help students plan their academic work. It is not a medical, diagnostic, or therapeutic product.
How can I join the beta?
Nova Guide is in beta on TestFlight. Head to the Get the app page on your iPhone and tap Join the TestFlight beta. If you run into any trouble, email us at support@nova-guide.com.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email us at support@nova-guide.com with a short description and, if possible, your device model and iOS version. During the TestFlight beta you can also send feedback right from TestFlight — it really helps us track things down.
